MUSIC EDUCATION AUDITIONS

The SOPHIA chapter in conjunction with the American Harp Society will be holding Music Education Auditions for all interested beginning and intermediate harpists. This two-paret program provides an opportunity for students to perform and listen to one another in a non-competitive setting and to receive an evaluation with advice and encouragement.

At the first session, participants play two contrasting selections of thier own choosing. Participants must provide the Advisor with copies of music to be performed. At the second session, (4 weeks later) participants perform their selections again, incorporating ideas and advice received from the Advisor. A third selection may also be played if total time for all three pieces does not exceed 7 minutes. Written comments from the advisor will be provided for both sessions. Students may also take a theory test at the first session. Students are encouraged to stay and listen to as many other participants as possible during both auditions. Everyone who participates in both auditions will receive a Certificate of Participation from the American Harp Society. Applications are due by March 20th , 2009. Download a sign up sheet today!
