2010 Harp Events
Sunday, January 10, 3PM. St. Philip's In The Hills Episcopal Church
Sequentia in Concert, sponsored by the Arizona Early Music Society.
From the time of Christianity's introduction into Europe until the end of the first millennium, apocalyptic images of the End of Time
and Last Judgment were prominent in both poetic texts and in the visual arts. In Sequentia's new program Fragments for the End of Time, vocalist/harper Benjamin Bagby and
flautist Norbert Rodenkirchen explore the musical world of these powerful texts, some of which survive only as fragments in the Old High German
Muspilli.

Me la Amargates Tú, sponsored by the Arizona Early Music Society. Tucson favorite Tulio Rondón joins an international cast in the ensemble
Me la Amargates Tú. Based in The Hague, the group arose from the performers' research and performance of Sephardic and Spanish music from
the 15th to 17th centuries. Their performances combine the Ladino folkloric tradition with musical elements from the period when Sephardic
Jewish communities lived in the Iberian Peninsula prior to their expulsion by the Inquisition. Sephardic written music from this time includes
only the melody and the text, written in Ladino. (Rumor has it that there will be a harp...)
